Chapter House – open to the public again from June 2nd 2024

We’re delighted that the Merton Priory Chapter House Heritage Museum will now be open from SUNDAY JUNE 2nd 2024 between 11am and 4pm, and every Sunday after that until October 27th 2024.

Our long-awaited installation of drainage for toilets and kitchen is taking even longer than we anticipated  –  its unique location makes the Chapter House a difficult place to drain.  Preliminary work is now complete, but we preferred to postpone the major building job till November so that we can open as normal for the rest of this summer.

If you haven’t visited the Chapter House yet (and indeed if you have) we look forward to welcoming you to the remains of one of the country’s greatest medieval monasteries, which among many historical surprises was the site of England’s first parliament.   Do come and be amazed  –  admission is free (though donations welcome), and young people of all ages will enjoy our complete virtual model of the Priory on Minecraft.

You can also take a look at Pokemon Go! We have lots of players nearby and it’s a nice way to explore the area.
